Cold air again — and a repair that lasts
Oxnard's coastal breeze doesn't help much once you head inland. A summer afternoon on the Oxnard Plain, a drive out to Santa Paula or Moorpark, or sitting in traffic on the 101 will show you quickly whether your A/C is really working. And because the A/C compressor also runs in defrost mode on most vehicles, a healthy system matters for clearing a foggy windshield on marine-layer mornings too.
A car A/C system is sealed. If it's low on refrigerant, it has a leak — and a quick "top-off" from a can only hides the problem for a while, and can overcharge the system or add sealer that clogs components. We test properly: high- and low-side pressures, vent temperatures, UV dye or electronic leak detection, and the electrical side, including pressure sensors, relays, the compressor clutch and blower motor. Newer vehicles use R-1234yf refrigerant and older ones R-134a, and we charge with the type and amount your vehicle calls for.
Once we know what failed, you get a clear estimate. Common fixes include condenser replacement after road-debris damage, leaking hoses or O-rings, failed compressors and expansion valves, and blend-door actuators that send hot air to one side. Many A/C problems are electrical, so our auto electrical team works alongside, and we check the cooling fans and radiator that the A/C relies on during regular maintenance.

System evacuated, vacuum-tested and recharged by weight to the factory refrigerant and oil specification.
Compressor & Condenser
Failed compressors, clutches, condensers, expansion valves and receiver-driers replaced with quality parts.
Electrical & Controls
Pressure sensors, relays, fuses, cooling fans, blower motors and climate control modules diagnosed with scan tools.

Why is my car A/C blowing warm air?
The most common cause is low refrigerant from a leak, but warm air can also come from a failed compressor or compressor clutch, a blocked or damaged condenser, a bad pressure sensor or relay, a cooling fan that isn't running, or a blend-door actuator stuck on heat. We test pressures, temperatures and the electrical side to find the actual cause.
How much does car A/C repair cost in Oxnard?
It depends on what failed. A leaking O-ring or hose and a recharge cost far less than a new compressor or an evaporator that sits behind the dashboard. Newer vehicles that use R-1234yf refrigerant also cost more to recharge than older R-134a systems. We test first and give you an estimate before any work, free on most cars. Call (805) 485-1575.
Can I just recharge my A/C with a can from the parts store?
You can, but it rarely fixes the problem. If the system is low, it has a leak, and a can doesn't find or fix it. DIY cans also make it easy to overcharge the system, which can damage the compressor, and some contain sealers that clog components. A proper evacuate-and-recharge by weight, after the leak is repaired, gives a lasting result.
Why does my A/C work on the freeway but not at stop lights?
That usually points to poor airflow across the condenser at low speed. The most common causes are an electric cooling fan or fan relay that has failed, a condenser clogged with debris, or a system that is slightly low on refrigerant. It can also be an engine running hot, so we check the cooling system at the same time.
How often should car A/C be serviced?
A/C systems don't need routine recharges; a healthy, sealed system can hold its charge for years. Have it checked when cooling drops off or you hear new noises. Replacing the cabin air filter regularly helps airflow and odors, and running the A/C for a few minutes every week or two, even in winter, keeps seals lubricated.
Do you repair A/C on trucks, vans and motorhomes?
Yes. We repair air conditioning on pickups, work trucks, Sprinter and Metris vans, fleet vehicles and the dash A/C on Class A, B and C motorhomes. We do not service RV rooftop or house A/C units. Fleet accounts get a reduced labor rate and priority scheduling.
